“Nikozi Shadows” is an action film that was written and produced in Zemo Nikozi, Georgia by artists Linda Pfenninger and Philip Matesic in September 2016. The production and first screening took place during the 10-day artasfoundation residency “OFF/LINE: What can art do in Zemo Nikozi?”.

During the residency, Pfenninger and Matesic worked closely with the local residents of Zemo Nikozi. They provided access to filming locations, built sets for scenes as well as acted in almost all of the roles.

Zemo Nikozi is a small village, heavily affected by the 2008 Russian-Georgian War and since then is located directly on the administrative border to South Ossetia.
